I opened this account on Monday so that I could comment on my bestie's blog (http://www.puresimplicity-diva.blogspot.com/) - she's a fellow natural newbie - about my big chop. I now want to utilize this blog to chart my growth into the natural hair lifestyle. I call it a lifestyle because so much goes into maintaining your hair's natural state.
You have to first change your attitude towards your hair (i.e. positive affirmation that you are a beauty without the creamy crack you slaved for once before), you also have to change your way of thinking as to the products you used before versus the products you will use now (i.e. Pantene worked on your relaxer but most of the line will not work your kinks and coils).
LOL @ myself for trying to sound like a natural hair guru. I've gone this route a few times before but, I was so young and unsure of what direction I wanted to go in with my hair, I decided to go back to the creamy crack.... smh.
But I am here now and my journey will be on these pages going forward.. God Speed to my Natural Journey!
Peace!
Nikkii

Me in Miami May 2010 I had cut my hair from a long, relaxed style about a month before this pic was taken.
The day after my big chop... July 3, 2010.....
